Funny Conversations

My kids say funny things sometimes

Hannah-We were driving and I was trying the best to answer Hannah's questions without blowing her off.  She kept asking me the same question and I was doing my best to rephrase my answer so she could understand.  Finally she whispered to me, "Just say 'because.'"

Rachel-  All the kids are pretty excited about my new smart phone.

Rachel:  Does your smart phone know my birthday?
Me:  Yes
Rachel:  How?
Me:  Because I told it.
Rachel:...Do you guys share secrets?

The Playroom Decor

I finished the playroom....I think.  I need feedback.  Here it is:

This is one of the undecided areas.  Window treatments or no window treatments?  If so what kind?

This might be a better view for that question.

We flipped our old IKEA shelf on it's side.  I got canvas totes and covered them with material from my mom.  I made the cushions too.  I put grippy material on the bottom so they wouldn't slide.

My mom's cross stitch is in the middle with all their baby pictures.  I painted black frames and then distressed them.  I found the totes for this shelf at ALDI.  Here's another indecision-do I cover the totes with matching striped material or leave them like that?

The dress up armoire.  Our neighbor was getting rid of their chest of drawers so I took out the drawers and painted it, put up a tension rod, and now our dress-ups are a little more organized.  (pinterest idea)

I painted these big paper clips to use for our art gallery.  I like how they turned out.  I like not having our fridge cluttered too:).

Birthday Visitors

The Baker Family came to visit again!  This time it was Thomas's birthday so we used some of our many snow days before they came to make a rockin' Thomas the Train Party.
 Presents

The train conductors before playing "Pin the Number on Thomas"

The pinata that we made.  I thought it turned out pretty well considering the heavy kid involvement.

 Laura did the cake.  Cute!

The last day the Bakers got to experience one of our many snow days.  The odds were in their favor this year.  We pulled out all the standard snow day activities.
 Rides in the Stroller

 Kitchen skating.

Hannah got Thomas to look at the camera.  She might be a little pushy:).

Last but not least, the awesome fort.

Pinewood Derby Prep

I had to be at the Pinewood Derby so we made cars for the kids to race.  Joe warned me he wouldn't have time to help and I was over ambitious.  The cars looked good...and that's about it.  The kids were good sports about getting dead last.

Visitors

I didn't realize I had forgotten to post the pictures from when we met Laura and family at Mammouth Caves on Martin Luther King Day(Free!  Hiooooo!)

 Visitor Center

An historic train surrounded by an gate with a broken door.  Bon Voyage!

 Laura and Nancy

It was nice to meet up with the Baker family for the day.  It was especially nice that we're close enough to do that.

Valentine's Day

2014 Valentines Day...Not to be confused with every other year where we do the same thing:).

 The Heart Shaped Pizza Tradition

Frosting sugar cookies.  I actually made good sugar cookies this year and I ate half the batch I think.

My Valentine
Joe and I decided to split who was in charge of anniversary and who was in charge of Valentine's Day.  I was in charge of Valentines Day.  After the kids went to bed we watched a new movie and had candle light home made french apple pie and sparkling cider.  I also heart attacked (a lot of paper hearts) him.  All the hearts had things the kids and I love about Joe written on them.  What the kids wrote was sweet.   Lincoln loves when Joe plays the Wii with him.  Hannah loves when Joe tickles her.  Rachel loves the bumble bee song that Joe sings to her at night.

Joe's a good dad.  He pays a lot of attention to making sure he spends quality time with the children and does lots of things they love with them, even though they're not very fun for him.

He's a great husband too.  The picture is of him making another crazy project for me and letting the kids "help him."

Snowed In

We've had lots of snow days and bitter cold.  We were happy when it warmed up a little bit so we could go sledding.

Thanks to the un-identified person who left their two-seater sled.  All we had was swimming inner-tubes:).

Lily looked about like this the whole time, even when we took her down the hill.  I guess she found her happy place.

Rachel and one of her favorite friends, Emily.
