Mammoth Caves

Joe's parents came for the weekend and today we went to Mammoth Caves, which is about 2 hours away. It was pretty fun. Sadly I forgot my camera and only had my cell phone camera.

The entrance to Mammoth Caves. (Apparently I buckled Hannah's arm in wrong.  Maybe that's why she was cranky the whole way.)

"Cave Bacon." The person who named all these formations must have been hungry because they all seemed to be named after food.

Lincoln got a sweet ride the whole tour. Joe got his workout for the day.

Stinkin Birds

We knew the birds had gotten in our bathroom vent and were procrastinating removing the nest until yesterday when I woke up to an awful smell. Last night brave Joe went in and had to blind grab the nest, baby birds, and rotten eggs. He is so manly. I'm so glad he did it.

Play Time

These are their favorite games to play. I love it when they include Hannah and me.

The "Let's go in the Car" game. It's a pretty sweet car.

The "Sleep Over" Game. In this game all the couch cushions are torn off to make beds for every person and stuffed animal. I am often invited to this sleepover. The sad part is we only "sleep" for about 5 seconds before they make a rooster sound and we're all supposed to get up.

Oh no!

I have a kid who loves making cookies as much as me. It doesn't take much to convince me to make cookies. I'm going to have to start running more.

Also, we found out Lincoln had strep throat and have medicated him so he feels much better. :)

One step behind

We got this sweet TV/VCR for our wedding, which has served us well. We haven't upgraded, mostly for cheapness sake. Last Christmas we were thinking of upgrading to a flat screen, especially since the VCR portion of the TV/VCR broke. Than we realized we don't care about a flat screen and eventually we could get a cheap bigger tube tv from the thousands who are hip upgraders.

Success! We feel so rich. Wealth is measured in weight right? My friend Sarah found this tv for free and brought it to us on her way to her parents. Yeah!

(PS-Our TV model is poor sick Lincoln. He gets sick the most in our family. At least in the picture he has his comforts-his pillow, dog and fingers. What he really loves is to be sung to and held. I wish I could do that all the time.)

We got a swing set!

We found this gem on craig's list and were so excited. I'm hoping to someday add a fort on the end to live my unfulfilled childhood dreams of having a cool fort. I'm so glad I can look like a nice parent while in reality I'm just a big kid who wants a cool fort.

The kids love it and have played for hours out there. Rachel even asked me if she could call our back yard "Park Place."

Suprise!

There was silence for 10 minutes and Joe and I started to get suspicious. Then Rachel and Lincoln came down and said, "Suprise." They like to pretend they're us. Rachel will intentionally wear the same thing as me to try to trick Joe so he doesn't know who is who. He said he could tell us apart by our birthmarks so then she wanted me to wear a scarf and her to wear pants to cover our birthmarks. She thinks she's pretty tricky.

Before and After

Before the renovation...

and after.

(Why is that kid still in his pajamas? Someone should talk to his mother.)

Before we bought the house I was worried about what to do with the formal dining room because I didn't really want a dining room table. I got excited about the idea of closing off the dining room to create a play area. Getting rid of the arches was controversial but I love the new play room and the extra bedroom we freed up. Joe was nice to ok the project because he wouldn't have done it if it was just up to him:).
