Moderation
Like every child, Rachel wants a lot of the yummy things, like candy. I've been trying to teach her moderation. I would tell her that we can't have too much of something because it isn't good for us and that we needed to use moderation. Rachel would tell me, "I don't like moderation," but now she is a model child for moderation. If I offer Rachel another candy after she's eaten one she'll tell me that she already had one and she wants to eat something healthy, like an orange.
Her pathetic mother is another story. While she eats her orange I steal 3 more Cadbury Mini Eggs. Oh the shame.
It's incredible!
Our friends gave us this costume a year ago and we've been trying to have Lincoln wear it for us. He finally did! I don't know if him putting the outfit on or posing for the pictures is more incredible.

Yo Ho Ho
Rachel's favorite friend asked Rachel to play pirates with her, so Rachel tied her up. The friend was sad and told Rachel she was playing pirates wrong. Rachel was quite distraught that she didn't know how to play pirates but we found out the source of her friend's pirate knowledge was "Jake and the Neverland Pirates," a Disney Junior Show. We came home and researched the show and now Rachel is obsessed with it. This morning she chose her outfit based on Jake. She would be Izzy the girl but she doesn't have purple pants. This is very depressing to her. (Just in case you are wondering the show is less than stellar and the pirates aren't really pirates.)

A man and his grill
For some reason this grill really made us feel official as home owners since we were never allowed to have one before. (Even though it was our neighbor's cast off grill:).) We thought it deserved photo documentation.

One Eyed Hannah
Hannah and Lincoln have had eye colds that have been pretty mild, but this morning Hannah woke up with one eye wide opened and one eye crusted shut. It was funny because she was so happy and bright eyed...with one eye.

We love pink
Rachel would have never sat still long enough for me to paint her toe nails when she was a baby. I love looking at Hannah's cute little pink toe nails.

Dreams do come true!
In August of 2010 Rachel saw a power wheels jeep and asked me if she could have one. I told her that if she earned it by being good, she was five, and we found one at a garage sale that she could have one. I thought all those stipulations would just mean she would forget. I should have known my daughter better. From then on Rachel would talk about it and thank Heavenly Father in her prayers that she could have a pink car when she's five. The above picture is one she carried around everywhere.
Oh the guilt. She earned it and our friend Sarah found one at a garage sale for us. She's not quite five but we figured the wait was long enough.
Lincoln the Hermit Crab
Hermit crabs carry a salvaged empty seashell. Several hermit crab species use "vacancy chains" to find new shells: when a new, bigger shell becomes available, hermit crabs gather around it.
-Wikipedia
Lincoln follows this same pattern and everyday finds a new container to carry his stuff and then carries it around until the next day when he finds one that better suits his needs. Here are just a couple of the many "shells" he finds.
His Pillow Case
Joe's running shoes. (You can't see it but he has a play animal in each shoe.
An empty pretzel container.
The list goes on and on...
