It was one of those nights. I was planning on going to bed early, but I was getting a ton done at homework so I went to bed a little later than I wanted to. I thought, no problem, as long as I get a good night sleep. This was the night that the big storm hit across all of the United States and put it in a deep freeze. Here in Lexington we just got some crazy wind. It woke Melanie and me up. Melanie got up to check the computer to see if there was a tornado warning or anything. There were 40-50 mph winds and for some reason it was really loud to us. Now we had just set up our trampoline a couple days before. Since we are new home owners and afraid horrible things are going to happen to our house, we could both picture the trampoline being lifted up and thrown into our house or a neighbor’s fence. Melanie decided to take some cinder blocks we had and put them on the legs of the trampoline. As I lay there in bed, I could picture my wife struggling in the wind to do this, so I went down and helped out.

Hot Date Night
This is our "hot date night" in a nut shell. Since Rachel was a new born we have gone out to a fast food place (with a tacky number of coupons) almost every Friday so now they've come to expect it and we call it hot date night. What made it even hotter is when we had to buy an emergency outfit for Lincoln because his diaper didn't do its job.

Vacation
Joe went on a business trip so the kids and I went to visit my friend Sarah in NC.
We went to a children's museum that the kids loved.
One of my favorite parts was bathroom accessory shopping. Sarah was nice to help watch the kids while I looked. I got a cute little monkey set for the kids bathroom. I wanted to get a stuffed monkey and figured I would help control the surplus stuffed pet population by going to Goodwill and looking at their piles of stuffed animals. I was elated when an employee actually handed me this monkey that matched perfectly. Sarah and I might be the only ones who are excited but oh well...

We're in!
After over 4 months of waiting and a hectic 2 days before closing, we finally closed on our house! Yeah!

We love Aunt Deanna
Deanna was nice to play with our kids all during Christmas break. I think she held Hannah more than me. She outdid herself by helping Lincoln several times during the night on Christmas Eve.
